During the Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2016 project, Tony Mossbarger volunteered with his classmates to prepare “El Nino kits” for homeless residents impacted by heavy winter rains. After handing out the kits to homeless and witnessing first-hand the plight of local families in need, Tony was inspired to take further action

At the Irvine Ranch Water District, where Tony has worked in IT and administration for 26 years, a box marked “Families Forward” sits outside of his office all year round and keeps an important local issue top of mind among IRWD employees. They stop by to donate small bottles of shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and other items in an ongoing effort to provide much-needed toiletries and other small items that collectively make a big difference to Orange County’s homeless residents.

Tony supports Families Forward, an Orange County nonprofit that assists families in achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency through housing, food, counseling, education and other support services. To help stock the pantry that Families Forward has operated since 1984, Tony organizes an annual IRWD food drive. For the Thanksgiving food drive, he volunteers alongside his wife, Maureen, who also coordinates the nonprofit’s annual backpack and school supply donation program.
