The speakers today were knowledgeable about their industry and were intentional about sharing personal stories and making connections for the class. Housing and transportation planning in Orange County requires a careful balance of community-based input, regulatory standards, and strong public-private partnerships. And meeting our housing needs means making balanced, forward-looking decisions that honor our community’s character while ensuring every resident has the opportunity to thrive. This also includes strategic planning and dedicated resources to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness, along with strengthening the vital work of organizations such as Families Forward and the Orange County Rescue Mission.
This workshop addresses issues facing our local transportation and housing infrastructure. From tours of new housing facilities, to potential alternative transportation methods and the challenges businesses face in finding housing for their workforces, participants will see there is a lot more behind the traffic than meets the eye.
